Melissa Coleman joined St. Maria Goretti in June 2019 as Youth Ministry Coordinator. She transitioned to coordinating the Religious Education program in July 2020 and began teaching middle school religion in 2022.
Melissa graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. She taught high school science and coached volleyball and basketball before staying home to raise their three children, now ranging in age from 21 to 26 years old.
Melissa and her family moved to Wisconsin in 2006. They enjoy the Wisconsin summers and are still getting used to the Wisconsin winters. The Coleman family are avid sports fans, specifically the University of Kentucky, the Houston Texans and Rockets, the Longhorns, UofA Razorbacks, UT Vols, and, of course, the Packers and Badgers.
They moved to Madison from Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin in 2017 where Melissa was the Religious Education Coordinator for middle and high school at St. Joseph Parish.
Melissa’s background in secondary education, raising three children, and a love and passion for the Catholic faith prepares her to build a strong and consistent catechetical foundation in our religious education, middle school, and high school programs.
